Feb. 25—Manhattan fire officials said no one was hurt in a Thursday night fire that caused by overloaded electrical circuits.

Crews responded to a single-story house fire at 9:09 p.m. Thursday at 2087 College View Road. Officials said all occupants exited the house before fire crews arrived.

When they arrived, the house had smoke coming from the front and roof. According to Manhattan Fire Department Assistant Chief Mike Kaus, the fire was coming from the attic. Crews controlled the fire within 20 minutes. Nineteen firefighters and six fire vehicles responded.

The estimated loss is $40,000 to the structure and $10,000 in contents. Mike Lowe of Manhattan is listed as the owner. The fire dispatched the home’s two occupants.

Officials said multiple space heaters were plugged in, which caused an overload on the electrical system.
