When firefighters arrived, they found a fire on the first floor of a 1 1/2-story wood frame extending into the attic.
Crews used three 1 3/4-inch handlines and 60 feet of ladders to extinguish the fire.
Damage was listed at $40,000. The cause is under investigation.
