Mt. Clemens Chief Dead from Gas Fumes
Chief Edward Sawitzky, fifty years old, of Mt. Clemens, Mich., died at the local hospital from what is believed to be the effects of gas poisoning.
As he was forcing his way into a fire on East Broadway, he was overcome by gas and smoke. He had been in the place only a short while when he was forced to leave on account of severe pains in his lungs. He was rushed to the hospital and suffered from the effects of the gas for three days, before he died.
