Dallas fire fighter slides elevator cable to rescue trapped operator
STAMINA was tested when fire broke out in the Mercantile Bank Building in Dallas last November 18, although the fire was not extensive. Immediately after the first-alarm companies arrived, the elevators became inoperative, and the firemen had to lug all hose and equipment 29 stories up the interior fire escape into the intense heat and smoke.
