Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a mobile home fire Monday morning in rural southern Parker County that claimed the lives of a young mother and her 3-year-old son, reports The Star-Telegram.
Spring Creek volunteer firefighters responding to a neighbor’s 911 call shortly before 9 a.m. found the residence in the 200 block of Paula Court fully engulfed in flames and the woman’s husband trying to get inside.
Firefighters later found the bodies of the woman, believed to be 26, and her son lying on the bed in the master bedroom.
They had not been positively identified Monday afternoon.
Kertok said the husband was at work when he learned of the fire and rushed home. Kertok said the home had mutliple space heaters inside but it was unknown Monday whether they might have sparked the fire.
The fire occurred just down the road and on the same property as another fatal house fire in August. Both homes were in the Lake Country Acres community.
