One Person Dead, One Rescued, Another Escapes St. Cloud (MN) House Fire

Jan. 31—ST. CLOUD — One person died in a house fire that was discovered around 4:30 a.m. Monday morning, according to the St. Cloud Fire Department.

Police went to 104-17th Ave. S and saw smoke in the house. They went inside and carried out a resident who uses a wheelchair, according to a police news release. Another resident had already left the house.

Officers were told another adult was on the second floor. Due to heavy smoke, officers were not able to reach the second level.

St. Cloud Fire Department located a deceased adult on the second floor.

No one else was injured during the incident, and one resident was assisted by the Red Cross.

The fire and death investigations are being conducted by the St. Cloud Police Department, the St. Cloud Fire Marshal’s Office and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy and formal identification on the victim.

The St. Cloud Police Department will issue updates as the investigation continues.

Property damage is estimated at $70,000.
