Salina, N.Y. — Three people were told to stay inside their SUV that was touching downed power lines Tuesday night after a two-vehicle crash in Salina, firefighters said.
The accident was reported at about 7:45 p.m. near the intersection of Brewerton and Bailey roads, according to a news release issued by the Mattydale Fire Department.
One of the vehicles hit a pole after the collision, firefighters said. One of the vehicles was initially reported to be on fire, according to Onondaga County 911 Center dispatches.

When firefighters arrived they found a vehicle on the guide wires of a power pole with its front end in the air, according to the release. Three people were still inside the vehicle, firefighters said.
Due to a downed power line touching the vehicle, the people inside were told to stay inside until National Grid could cut the power.

Mattydale and Liverpool fire crews used struts to hold the vehicle in place while they helped the three passengers out of the vehicle.
No injuries were reported for anyone involved in the crash.
Sections of Bailey and Brewerton roads, north and southbound, were temporarily shut down while crews worked.
