Chicago (IL) firefighters pulled a fellow firefighter to safety after he suffered back injuries from achimneycollapse during a fire.
Firefighters responded to the scene of a house fire in the West Englewood neighborhood of Chicago around 2:15 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10. The firefighter was tearing down the ceiling on the second floor to search for hotspots in the attic when the chimney collapsed. Bricks and wood fell on the firefighter, and he was soon complaining of head and back injuries.
Nearby firefighters pulled him to safety and he was soon transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. He was said to be in fair-to-serious condition en route to the hospital and is now stable.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
