A 40-year-oldfirefighterwith Grand Traverse Band (MI) Fire Rescuewas found dead at the firehouse, according toa report from the U.S. Fire Administration.
On Thursday, March 17, 2022, while on duty at the fire station, Firefighter/EMT David Wayne McDonald, Jr. was found deceased on the bay floor by a fellow firefighter. The cause of his death is under investigation.
According to a social media post from the department, Firefighter McDonald was a firefighter for 15 years, with the last part of that serving the citizens of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians and Leelanau County. He was also a firefighter with Pleasant Plains Fire Department in Baldwin, Michigan.
