Hi, boys and girls!
I hope that you are keeping warm where you are! It snowed where I live and I have had a lot of fun playing in the snow. I hope that if you had a chance to play in the snow you stayed safe! It is always important to practice being safe all year long!
Here is a picture of me in the snow. Firefighter Dayna said that I looked like a deer! It was the very first time that I had seen snow, so I was very excited!

I have some very pawsome friends! Today I asked a few of them to share one of their very favorite safety tips. Let’s see what they have to say!

Wow, that is really great advice, Frankie! Thank you so much for sharing a tip with the boys and girls!
How about it Emma Zen, do you have some advice for the boys and girls?

Here are some tips to help keep your dog safe in the car! Let’s learn!
What should you carry in the car for your dog? And why should you carry it?
In my car, my Mom has a backpack just for me. It has in it:
In my car, my Mom has a backpack just for me. It has in it:
1. 3 water bottles.
2. A collapsible water bowl.
3. An extra collar and leash.
4. An extra set of my identification tags.
5. A first-aid kit.
6.一个小毛毯和一个玩具。
7. A can of food and a biscuit.
The reason my Mom carries all this is because you just never know. What if we got a flat tire and were stuck on the side of the road? What if I stepped out of the car and stepped on something and cut my paw? What if …. Like I said, you just never know.
I would rather be prepared then take the chance of having an emergency with no way to help myself.
You can purchase first-aid kits or make your own. Next time I will tell you what I have in my kit!
While having a backpack is a great sense of preparation, I also practice basic travel safety.
I always wear my seat belt,ALWAYS.
I never stick my head out the window without my Doggles on.
And PLEASE, NEVER leave me in the car alone! My natural temperature is 100ºF to 102.5ºF. I am already hot. In a car I will overheat in minutes–even on a cool day or with the windows down.
I hope you had fun learning with me today! Thank you for taking such good care of your dog and other pets!
Emma Zen, you are one of the coolest dogs I know! Thank you so much for sharing your tips with the boys and girls!
Tacoma, being a firefighter’s dog, I bet you have learned a safety tip or two. How about it? What is your advice?
Tacoma, making sure that Firefighter Susan stays with her electric blanket. |
“You bet I have, Sparkles! Firefighter Ken and Firefighter Susan taught me some fire safety tips, and I am so excited to share them with the boys and girls! It is so important to never, ever leave heating pads or electric blankets on and unattended. Do you know what unattended means? That’s an awfully big word, but unattended means that you need to make sure that you never leave a heating pad or electric blanket on without you or a grown-up being in the room!”
Thanks, Tacoma, for that pawsome advice!
What do you do to help keep you, your pet, and your family safe? Send me an e-mail (be sure to ask a grown-up first!) telling me what you have done to help keep them safe, and your name will go into a drawing to win a pawtographed copy of the fun children’s book,
