May 3—A man scaled San Francisco’s 1,070-foot-tall Salesforce Tower on Tuesday morning without any ropes, and when he made it to the top after 10 a.m. he was met by police and arrested, officials said.
“Officers have developed [probable] cause to arrest the subject but charges are still pending,” the San Francisco Police Department said in a statement. “At minimum he will be arrested for trespassing.”
The man, who goes by Maison Des Champs on Instagram, calls himself a “pro life Spiderman.”
他的网站说:“我是一名攀岩者,最近开始攀登摩天大楼以结束堕胎。”
Many people posted images and video on social media. Tom Metcalfe of Oakland was walking down Mission Street at 9:35 a.m. on his way to a conference when he saw the unusual sight.
The San Francisco Police Department said it received a report of an individual climbing the building at 9:21 a.m.
警方说:“军官在建筑物侧面观察到一名雄性从街上靠自己的力量上升的几层楼。”
Police spokesperson Robert Rueca said at 10 a.m. that police blocked off streets in the area and were trying to make contact with the climber. Medics are on the scene.
The San Francisco Fire Department said on Twitter that the climber is placing firefighters’ lives and the public’s safety at risk.
“AVOID THE AREA and join us in condemning this action,” the fire department wrote on Twitter.
“Incident resolved,” the San Francisco Fire Department posted on Twitter at 10:56 a.m. “Climber is now with @SFPD.”
Opened in 2018, the Salesforce Tower is the tallest building in San Francisco. The top of the building features a permanent multi-million-dollar art installation by San Francisco artist Jim Campbell. The installation consists of 11,000 LED lights that can display low-resolution moving color imagery.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more details become available.
