Water Rates.
A few large consumers in Boston are receiving the greater portion of their water supply at the minimum rate of 8 cents per 100 cubic feet, causing a loss of 25 per cent, to the city, according to the report of a special committee of the Massachusetts Real Instate Exchange on water meter rates. The city has already installed about 17,000 meters out of a total of 100,000 or about 17 per cent.
Eau Claire, Wis., which two years ago became owner of its water system, is to make a material reduction in its rates in the near future.
