WATER RATES
The city of Galveston, Tex., has passed an ordinance requiring all churches, charitable and educational institutions to make application for free water before November 30. Otherwise they will be compelled to pay. Victor H. Railey, secretary of the water works department, said that under the new ruling many churches and other institutions that have not previously had free water have applied, and will now be served without cost to them.
The War wood, W. Va., Water and Light Company recently asked the Warwood council to agree to an increase of rates. After discussion, it was decided that the increase would not be justified at this time, and permission was, accordingly, refused on the ground that the figures before the council showed no need for such increase.
