A RECENT issue of an Omaha paper announced with ill-concealed and pardonable pride that the streets “are to be swept and sprinkled in honor of the Pan-American guests.” That will be a noteworthy day for Omaha.
Now that the season has come for putting up stoves for the winter, it is well to remember that a disastrous fire may be averted by taking a few timely simple precautions. Look to it that the stove stands securely on metal, cemented brick or stone, then that all woodwork near the stove or pipe is carefully protected with metal, and finally, see that the pipe is clean and in good order.
