Test of Ahrens Fire Engine.

The tests made of a second-size Continental engine at Detroit were as follows: 1st Test:— Two lines of hose 250 ft. siamesed into 11/2-in. smooth-bore nozzle; steam-pressure, 135 lb., water-pressure, 210 lb. Second Test:—Two lines 300 ft., each 11/4-in. nozzle; steam-pressure, 135 lb.; water-pressure, 180 lb. Smooth-bore nozzles were used during the entire test and draughting water about 8 ft. The stream was

held perpendicular and was estimated to reach a height of over 200 ft.
