New York State Fire News.

According to a local paper, the proprietors of Hotel Rochester and Powers Hotel in Rochester, will apply to the court for an injunction against the city to prevent the ringing of the city hall bell whenever there is an alarm of fire. These hotels are located but a short distance from the city hall, and it is claimed that the clanging of the bell is a great annoyance to their guests at night. Ringing the city bell for a fire-alarm was abolished in Utica some time since, and it seems to give general satisfaction. The location of a fire is promptly announced in the enginehouses and newspaper offices, and that is all that is required. The bell called out a crowd which was in the way of the firemen and made more work for the police. It is a useless noise.

清晨在丽芙·特洛伊爆发开火ery stable of W. A. Thomas—a 3-story building, on the top floor of which were stored hay and feed; on the second, about thirty vehicles of all kinds; on the ground floor, fifty-six horses. The fire started on the top floor, so that the department had time to rescue all of the horses. The feed, hay and vehicles were destroyed. The rear of the drygoods store of J. J. & M. J. Hartigan, on Congress street, which connected with the stable, was slightly damaged. The restaurant next to the stable and the news store north of the building were also slightly damaged. The total loss will reach about $50,000. The fire department worked hard and intelligently and practically confined the blaze to the place of origin.—The present November has been the worst in the history of the Troy fire department, so far as regards fire-alarms. During sixteen days there were fifteen bell alarms, and almost every fire engine company in the city had several still alarms. An epidemic of incendiarism is suspected.
