Vertical pumps of two or three cylinders (forcepumps), operated by oil motors or suction gas motors of front 7 to 15 hp., will raise from 25 to 60 cu. m. per hour. Where the conditions are favorable, centrifugal pumps are employed and are preferred. The one observed at Jaffa would raise 50 cu. ni. per hour, and was said to he the most economical of the many different pumps in use.”
