Fire Commissioner Hayes, of New York City, has made new regulations which will give increased protection to the Manhattan waterfront and that of the eastern shore of the East River and bay.The fire commissioner has directed that telegraph communication be established between fire headquarters in Brooklyn and the fireboat New Yorker, at the Battery, and the fireboat William L. Strong, at Grand street. East River, these boats to respond to first alarms in Brooklyn. Telegraph communication has also been ordered to be established between fire headquarters in Manhattan and the fire boat Boody, at North Sixth street, Williamsburg, and the Abram S. Hewitt, to he at Main street, Brooklyn, the two boats to respond to first alarms in Manhattan. The Seth Low. now at Main street. Brooklyn, will be assigned to Forty-second street, handy to the Bay Ridge and Erie Basin regions.
