New Water System for Saginaw
A project is on foot in Saginaw, Mich., to secure in that city a water system similar to that of Grand Rapids, filtered and softened by the same process and installed by the same engineer, George W. Fuller, of New York. Grand Rapids people declare that their new water plant is the most valuable improvement made in the history of the city. The water is clear and soft. Those in Grand Rapids, who opposed the adoption of the plan of filtration of Grand river water instead of going out to Lake Michigan for the supply, are now its most enthusiastic supporters. Moreover, city health authorities make the statament that the typhoid fever rate alone, to mention only one water-borne disease, has been already reduced 60 per cent. Mayor Ellis of Grand Rapids said that it would be a good business proposition, as demands from new water users are so great as to embarrass the city in taking care of them with reasonable promptness.
