NEW ENGLAND WATER WORKS ASSOCIATION.
The monthly meeting of the New England Water Works Association will be held at headquarters, Tremont Temple, on Wednesday. January 12, 1898. The following is the program of proceedings: 10.30 o’clock—the rooms in the Tremont will be open; 12 o’clock—meeting of executive committee; I o’clock—lunch will be served at Young’s hotel—tickets $1.50;2 O'clock—the following papers will be presented: “ The Worcester distributing reservoir.” by W. E. Hassam, C. E., assistant to the citv engineer. “ Back filling trenches’, from another standpoint,” by E. H. Gowing, C. E.. Boston,
Handling air in a tube well pumping plant,” by D. N.’ Tower, supt., Cohasset, Mass. By the courtesy of Supt. Forbes, members are invited to visit the new Brookline public bath—the building being reserved for their use between the hours of 10.30 and 12.30. The building, recently erected at a cost of $43,000, is provided with a swimming pool eighty by twenty-six. the running water of which is kept at a temperature of eighty degrees, and the whole building has every modern bathing convenience; it is believed to be the finest in the country. Bathing suits will be furnished and an opportunity given for a swim. Mr. Forbes has also arranged for an exhibition of swimming and diving by experts between hours of 11.30 and 12.30.
