Derrick Sawyer has been chosen as the new commissioner for the Philadelphia (PA) Fire Department.
Sawyer has been a firefighter for 29 years and is currently the Deputy Commissioner of Operations, according to the local NBC affiliate (http://bit.ly/1ovMcYN).
Sawyer will be taking over for current Fire CommissionerLloyd Ayers, who is retiring after 40 years of service.
