The assistant chief of the Hungry Valley (NV) Volunteer Fire Department died after suffering a heart attack duringwildlandtraining.
Donovan Garcia Jr., 52,died on duty, according to a report from theReno-Gazette Journal.
Garcia was participating in a wildland firetrainingin Hungry Valley when he collapsed, and was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Numerous firefighters have fallen this year after suffering heart attacks on the job. In late May, aBaltimore County (MD) firefighter died of a suspected heart attackduring training, and theBirmingham (AL) fire chief died unexpectedly of a suspected massive heart attack. In April, a longtimeWest Virginia volunteer fire chief was also felled by an apparent heart attack.
