Lima Machinery Plant Damaged

The East Iron and Machine Company, Lima, O., was damaged to a considerable extent recently by a fire that started in the attic of the large brick building, 200x250 ft., owned by W. S. Truesdall, from some cause unknown. It was discovered at 6 p. m. and alarms were sent by box and telephone. The building was provided with some chemical extinguishers, but when Chief John C. Mack arrived with 35 men, in a very short time after the alarm was given, he found the whole of the top story involved. Four motor engines were employed and 6,500 feet of hose was laid. Eight 6-inch double hydrants were available with good pres-

sure. The fire was stopped after an hour and a half of hard work. The value of the propetry involved was about $100,000, and the contents $200,000. The loss on the building is estimated at $6,000 and on the contents $2,000, although later estimates might run into higher figures.
