Industrial Chiefs Lay Groundwork for National Group

FORMATION of a National Association of Industrial Fire Chiefs affiliated with the International Association of Fire Chiefs moved a step closer to reality following a meeting of representatives of industry and the IAFC in Columbus, Ohio, April 15. Closer relationships and the greater interchange of ideas between municipal and industrial chiefs was the keynote of the conference. Selling the program to management and developing programs for small plant fire protection as well as off-the-job fire safety for plant personnel occupied important consideration.

Sponsored by the Ohio Fire Brigades Association, the Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Office, Nationwide Insurance Company and the International Association of Fire Chiefs, the meeting was convened by Chairman Pro-tem Don O’Brien, editor, FIRE ENGINEERING, at 9:00 a.m. in a conference room at the Nationwide Building. During luncheon in the Pine Room, all present were guests of Howard Hutchinson, senior vice president-insurance operations. The group adjourned at 3 p.m.
