H. F. NEUMEYER MANUFACTURING COMPANY.

The H. F. Neumeyer Manufacturing Company, Macungie, Pa., has published an ilustrated catalogue, in which are described its “Standard ” nozzle, its “Niagara” lawn sprinkler, the Neumeyer wall wash, the “Peerless” automatic antifreezing hydrant, and “ Peerless' street washers. The automatic anti-freezing hydrant has a perfect waste controler, prompt, positive, and reliable, made entirely of brass and noliable to wear or get cut of order. The accompanying sectional view shows that the body of the valve A is hollow. Across the inner diameter of its upper end extends a transverse tube D, with its end opening into the space surrounding the valve, The inner diameter of the lower end Is reduced and provided with cylindrical guides for an inverted cup-shaped plunger B, free to move in a vertical direction. Through a hole in the top of this plunger passes a pin C, with a pointed upper end, and a thin circular disk attached to its lower end. Upon opening the hydrant In the usual way,the water enters the lower part of the valve, and pressing against the disk, forces the pin C into the open outlet R, preventing the escape of any water. The pressure continuing, the plunger B is forced up until it is above the bottom of the chamber—the water passing NEUMEYER “STANDARD” NOZZLE, NO. 7. thetranverse tube D, up the delivery pipe, and finaily out of the spout. The closing of the hydrant removes the pressure, and the plunger drops down by gravity and withdraws the pm from the opening R, allowing the water semaining in the hydrant to escape through it. The waste opening in outer casing is covered by a metal cap, preventing the accumulation of mud within the outer casing. The valve can be lifted out for examination or renewal of the lower leather the ordinary way. All pipes are reamed, insuring an easy passage for the removing and replacing of the plunger leathers. Limestone water has no effect upon the operation of this hydrant, of which a cut is given, as well as of the same firm’s self-closing hydrant, specilly adopted for public places. (The latter illustration will be seen in our advertising columns.) Pressing the lever causes the water to flow and, releasing the same, shuts it off; also, with a small p?.wl attached, can be kept running, if desired.

据称Neumeyer的“标准”喷嘴that its spray is flat, or fan-shaped ;that it will cover any surface either horizontal or vertical; that it will throw at least three times as far as one with any other shape; and that the change from a solid stream to spray can be made instantly by less than onesixth turn of the outer tube. They are guaranteed, (whatever their size) to throw a heavy, uniform spray more than half the distance reached by a solid stream, without causing any back pressure in the hose and by a slight turn of the outer tube. The great range, while spraying, renders these nozzles very effective in driving 'back, and subduing smoke or for protecting buildings standing close to the scene of a fire. These nozzles are durable under severe usage and easy of operation when in use. An illustration is given of No. 7 nozzle, which is threaded to fit play-pipes for two and one-half-inch hose with stop. The nozzles are threaded for one-half-inch, three-quarter inch, one and one-quarter inch one and one-half-inch, and two-inch hose, and for play-pipes on two and one-half-inch hose.
