Spotting a Fire Tower.

To the Editor: Your Questions and Answers column has interested me, a long-time practical fireman, so much, that I cut out all of those columns and intend to put them in a scrap book form. One thing I notice, the most of it is about flow of water fire streams, etc. This week I notice a change that interested me, that is, a question by your Brooklyn correspondent about water towers. I had thought about the same thing and would like to know the general practice about spotting a water tower, how far away from the curbing, etc. While I am working on a fire boat, and have seen every kind of modern fire apparatus, I have never seen a water tower at work. On the subject of water towers, while all eastern city towers are 65 feet high, I have a picture of a gorter water tower used in San Francisco department that reaches 76 feet high. Please invite firemen to ask practical questions about hook and ladder trucks and other fire questions. Respectfully,
