Chief O’Neil of the Paid Fire Department, Sixth District of New Orleans.
We present to our readers herewith what is considered very good portrait of Thomas O’Neil, chief engineer of the newly created paid fire department of the Sixth district of New Orleans. Mr. O'Neil has been engaged in fire fighting since the year 1866, and is known as an able and experienced fireman, with an enviable record for bravery and efficient duty during his whole term of service. The appointment of Chief O'Neil was warmly recommended by the insurance men of New Orleans, and it is confidently expected that under his management the fire department of the Sixth district will make a good record for itself and materially decrease the fire losses in that section of the city.
