SECOND BATTALION-ENGINE COMPANIES NO. 4, 8, AND M.
The Second Battalion is comprised of Steamer Companies No. 4, 8, 11, 22, 37, and Chemical Engine Company No. 4. Chief John H. Green is in command, with headquarters at Chemical No. 4 House, on Dearborn avenue. He has lately been transferred to this Battalion, having before had command of the Third. He is considered a good officer and a strict disciplinarian, and as the youngest of the Marshals, he lays claim to being the best looking.
