Canton Schools to Pay for Water
The city solicitor of Canton, O., recently hch a conference with city officials and a committee of the Board of Educaton of that city in regarr to paying for the water furnished the schools As a result the Board of Education will pay tin water works department about $8,000. The city brought suit against the board about two year ago to collect water rent. The case was carrier through the court of common pleas to the cour of appeals and the city won in each court. The back bills as presented to the board total abou $12,000 but the city will ask the school board only to pay about the actual cost of delivering thr water. This is expected to cut about $4,000 and make the rate lower than at present. Servicr Director Starrett says if the schools have to pay for water used the persons in charge of eacr building will see that there is no waste, thus conserving the city’s supply.
