Volusia County (FL) Firefighters Undertake Hazmat Training

Volusia County (FL) Fire Rescue conducted a three-day interactivehazmattrainingat Country Pure Foods in DeLand, Florida. The planning and execution of the hands-on training were completed by Battalion Chief Steven Huber and Lieutenant Michael Sypian from Station 15, the Fire Rescue Training Center in Daytona Beach, Florida.

消防队员participated in a simulated rapid extrication of a victim from thefirst-due engine, ananhydrous ammonia leakwith mitigation, and thena down entry team member with Response to Intervention strategies. Also, at the end of day two, the training featured a white powder call.

The participants included members from Volusia County Fire Rescue, Daytona Beach Shores, City of DeLand, and Orange City Fire Departments.Hazmatis an area that covers the operations of both hazard andhazmatfor the exposure of chemical, explosive, or biological incidents. Training must be conducted regularly to enhance awareness of materials, follow operational guidelines, and review tactics.
