Blanket of Balls Reduces Volatile Liquid Hazard
Tests have proved that the time required for an explosive atmosphere to form above a volatile liquid like methanol is greatly increased if the liquid surface is blanketed with Allplas balls.
The tests were carried out at the French Centre National de Prevention et de Protection. The ball system involves floating a closely-packed layer of chemically-inert hollow plastics balls on a liquid.
