BETTER FIRE PROTECTION FOR COLUMBUS.

After the recent serious fire in Columbus. Ohio, the Ohio Inspection Bureau recommended the following improvements and additions to the equipment of the department:

Install engine houses in the following localities, each to be equipped with firstdass steamer, hose wagon, four horses, and eight men, viz.: Vicinity of Sullivant and Lechner streets, Mount Vernon avenue, near Cleveland avenue. Engine houses should also be installed on Fourth street, near Chestnut, and on Parsons, near Schiller, having in addition to tinabove equipment one hook and ladder truck, two horses, and four men.
