Band Sets Chicago's Heart on Fire

Everybody loves a parade and in Chicago spectators love it even more when they’re watching the Chicago Fire Department Band. This volunteer organization of 125 active fire fighters almost always leads Chicago’s biggest parades. In their dress blue uniforms, white hats, gloves, spats and red bow ties they look as good as they sound— and that’s very good indeed.

Chicago’s Fire Commissioner Robert J. Quinn, perhaps the band’s biggest booster said “Music does something for a person that nothing else can do. It builds up the morale of the men and trains them at the same time. They don’t even know it’s happening, but it makes them better men.”
