Wilmington MA Fire Displaces 16 During Storm

A roaring fire at a Wilmington (MA) apartment complex left 16 people homeless as the massive snowstorm intensified, reports the Boston Herald.

The fire at the complex on Avalon Drive broke out at about 4 p.m. No one was injured, but firefighters battled high winds and driving snow to contain the four-alarm fire.

State Fire Marshal Stephen Coan responded to the scene.

火和烟损坏23 units housing 35 people, but only 16 people in 10 units were displaced, said MEMA spokesman Peter Judge. But, Judge said: “It was a four-alarm fire, so I’m sure between the fire and water damage, they were probably all damaged.”

Officials don’t yet know what sparked the fire, in part because of the difficult weather conditions.
