Two Injured in New York Residential Fire

Two people were injured in a house fire Wednesday morning in Smithville, New York.

A 71-year-old man and his 37-year-old grandson were injured in a fire that took firefighters more than an hour to bring under control in the freezing temperatures, according to WBNG (http://bit.ly/1g7O1Zv).

The two were inside the two-story home when the fire began. The younger man jumped out of a second-story window, while his grandfather escaped from the rear of the home. The severity of the victims’ injuries is unknown, but both were transported to area medical facilities.

The fire extended to fourvehiclesin the driveway of the residence, which was a total loss.
