Three civilians died and five firefighters were injured in a two-alarm Queens fire that started in the final minutes of 2014, reports The New York Post.
The fire broke out in a high-rise in the LeFrak City apartment complex in Corona at around 11:45 p.m., Wednesday.
About 150 firefighters were on scene for nearly two hours to control the fire in the ninth-floor apartment.
After bringing the fire under control, firefighters found two women and a man unresponsive in the charred apartment.
Nadia Donnay, 37, Louise Jean-Charles, 59, and Napoleon Michel, 69, were rushed to area hospitals, but could not be saved.
