Missouri Fire Truck Catches Fire after Hitting Power Line

A Columbia (MO)fire apparatuswas heavily damaged after it struck a power line and caught fire.

The incident occurred Sunday morning during routine maintenance, according to a report from KRCG (http://bit.ly/MlUqFS). A photo from the scene shows dark smoke enveloping the rear portion of the fire truck.

Firefighters say they were checking the truck’s systems at Station 4 after getting it back from a maintenance facility when its ladder hit some overhead power lines, according to the report. Crew members got away from the apparatus quickly and were not injured.

The local utility had to shut power off in the area for firefighters to finally extinguish the flames.
