WELLS
The Pawnee Valley Irrigation Company has been chartered in Topeka, Kan., to sink wells and to otherwise arrange for irrigating a portion of Garfield township in Finney county. The capital is $30,000 and the directors are: R. J. Churchill, J. Chapel Frank and Foster Rose, William Moore and Levi Wilkinson.
The contemplated sinking of artesian wells by the city of Somerville, Mass., is attracting considerable interest. At. present the water supply is obtained from the Mystic river, and is far from satisfactory. At times the water is of a muddy consistency, and is never perfectly clear. The amount appropriated for the sinking of the wells is §3000, but it is not thought that this will l)e a sufficient amount tc satisfy all demands.
