WELL DRILLING NOTES.
The water-works contractors of Fort Worth, Tex., are in great luck, and are striking water galore. The great drill on well No. 1 struck the third flow, and an increased volume of water is the consequence. It is estimated that the flow is about 300,000 gallons a day. This is the well nearest the entrance to the grounds. It is a fine flow of water, clear and cold, and was struck about 900 feet down. The contractors and city engineer and Captain Scoble and the superintendent will make a test of the test well, which has already been through the second flow, and will ascertain exactly how much water comes gushing up in a day.
A representative of a Meredith (N. II.) firm has been at Bellows Falls, Vt., trying to contract to bore artesian wells to supply the village with water. It would cost $8 per foot to sink the wells, and if flowing w ater were sure inside of 500 feet it might he a good enough scheme to consider seriously. But the results obtained from other wells in this vicinity are not very flattering, as pumps must be kept at work.
