Rockefeller Gives Land for Reservoir—John D. Rockefeller has opposed a plan of North Tarrytown to erect a large standpipe which was to have cost $40,000 and was to supply the village with water. Rockefeller considered that the standpipe which would have been placed on his properly and could have been taken by condemnation by the city, would be unsightly and he has offered to co-operate with the village by presenting them a hill further north on which they could build a reservoir for water storage purposes. The village recently voted $470,000 for a new water supply. It is expected that Mr. Rockefeller’s offer will be accepted.
