Warren, Ohio, Considers Municipal System
The city of Warren, Ohio, is considering the advisability of obtaining a municipal water supply system, either by purchasing the privately-owned system now supplying the city, or by constructing a separate plant. The matter has been discussed at different times, but has again been made prominent by the petition of the Trumbell Public Service Company, present owners, for an increase of 300 per cent. in the water rates, in order to install needed improvements at an estimated cost of about $2,000,000. Unless the company shall receive the increase requested the improvements cannot be made, the officials state. The contract held by the company for supplying the city with water expires next April. The council did not grant the increase, but laid the matter over for investigation.
