SIX times the buildings standing on a certain piece of property at Milford, N. J., have been burned, the last time only a few days ago, when the whole town was threatened with destruction. The citizens, it is reported, are now beginning to think about purchasing a fire engine. It would seem about time.

WITH considerable interest will be read the report, printed in another column, of Captain Shaw of the London Fire Department, for the year 1886. The London press has of late been as roundly condemning the management of its fire brigade as it formerly praised it. The official report for the past year will now speak for itsell.
