To Test Electrical Wires.
The Underwriters’ National Electrical association has laid down the following rules for factory tests of electrical wires: Voltage Test.—Each coil of wire shall be tested after at least ten hours’ immersion in water, with 1,500 volts alternating current for not less than five seconds and from a transformer of at least 5 kilowatts-capacity, without showing any current leakage or rupture of insulation.
insulation Tests.—Each coil or reel of wire shall be immersed in water not less than ten hours and then measured for insulation-resistance, after an electrification for one minute with not less than too volts.
