The Two-Platoon System in The Everett Fire Department
Although the County Superior Court recently ordered the Everett, Wash., city council to put the two platoon system into effect, and to place on the force the 10 additional men necessary for the system, the council cannot find funds with which to finance the two platoons, and the commissioners expect to carry the case to the Superior Court. The extra men are now at work. Chief Taro states that an error caused the drawing of the charter amendment to provide funds for the two platoon system, in such a way that no mention was made in the amendment for the purpose for which the money was to be raised. The people passed the two platoon measure but turned down the charter amendment which provided funds for the additional men.
Chief Byers, of the London (O). fire department, has tested the new motor truck purchased by that town.
