THE New York Aqueduct Commissioners, at a meeting held on the 7th inst., finally decided to build the dam at Quaker Bridge, the construction of which had been recommended and urged by such competent engineers as Isaac Newton, General Newton, E. S. Chesbrough, Julius Adams, James B. Francis, Alphonse Fteley and Chief Engineer Church, who had carefully considered the important issues involved. An estimate of the cost of the Quaker Bridge dam, prepared by Chief Engineer Church, places the total cost of everything involved in its construction at $A743 of which sum $i,200,000 is to be expended in the purchase of land required, and $300,000 to be devoted to the construction of the Muscoot sub-dam.
