THE MAYER HOSE RELIEF VALVE.
The Mayer hose relief valve has always been open to compete with any class of valve on its merits—the winner to take both valves. Chief Bonner, of New York city, says that the valve is all right, and that he has them in use. The last shut-off Mr. Mayer made is the Eureka. It is claimed as by far and away the best thing of its kind in the market, and the cheapest in price. The several sizes are used in the fire department of Detroit, Mich. The late Chief Elliott, of that department, said the Eureka was the only thing of its kind that filled the bill in every particular—and Chief Elliott was a critic in fire matters. Forty-two years of service had taught him something. Mr. Mayer also made a three and one-half-inch size Eureka shut-off coupling, aluminum, total weight, five and one-half pounds, for the Eastman Company, to go with its Deluge set. They wrote that firm that the Eureka was the thing they had been looking for for years. Mr. Alvarado Mayer is engineer of NoII engine company, Detroit Mich., fire department. He can be addressed at 26 Preston street, Detroit, Mich.
