THE JERSEY CITY WATER CONTRACT.

THE JERSEY CITY WATER CONTRACT.

According to the New York Tribune’s Jersey correspondence, “former Senator William D Edwards, of Jersey City, N. J , will vigorously oppose the application for a receiver for the East Jersey Water company which will be made at Newark next Tuesday. Mr. Edwards is council for Patrick H. Flynn, head of the company which has the contract to provide Jersey City with a new water supply. It has been alleged that Mr. Flynn is insolvent; but Mr. Edwards said yesterday (December 18): 'Mr. Flynn may finish the new waterworks without having to raise the proposed $4,500,000. His finances are in such shape that he will be able to go ahead now and will not require a loan for some time to come. Anyway, he will not need as much as $4,500,000. It is understood that Mr. Flynn will withdraw from several enterprises in which he is interested financially in order to fulfill his contract without borrowing money.’”
