CHIEF J. R. HOPKINS, of Somerville,Mass., is one of the most practical engineers in the country, and his knowledge on all matters relating to fire protection and his faculty of being able to describe them are very well known everywhere. Lately he compiled some valuable data on the equipment of the fire departments round Boston, which were read at a meeting of the Massachusetts club of fire engineers.
