THE CLINTON, MASS., DAM.

THE CLINTON, MASS., DAM.

AS already noticed, the Metropolitan water commission of Boston is about building just above Clinton, Mass., a huge dam to retain the largest amount of water ever stored in any reservoir— amounting to 65,000,000,000 gallons, enough to supply Boston for three and one-half years, and four times as much as all the existing water works reservoirs of Boston.

Its capacity is twice as great as that of the new Croton resservoirof New Yorks; thrice that of the six reservoirs of Birmingham, Eng.; thirty times that of the Cochituate, and twenty-five times that of Hobbs Brook, of the Cambridge system. It will hold more water than the inner harbor of Boston.
