Following are the figures of a test made at Scranton, Pa., on January 27 by an underwriter’s engineer, of one of the three Seagrave triple combination cars recently delivered to that city: Type: 2:stage centrifugal, 11-in. pump. Engine: 4-cylinder, 7 3/4 9 in. stroke. Pump: Gear ratio: Engine to pump 1 to 2.6. Contract requirements: 800 gallons at 100 pounds net; 750 gallons at 125 net, 625 gallons at 150 pounds; 525 gallons at 175 pounds (National Board requirement, 375 gallons at 200 pounds). Tested at Lake Lincoln, 4-ft. lift.
First Test: Duration 3 hours. Layout of hose and nozzles: Two lines of 2 1/2-in.; 100 ft. into deluge set and 1 ¾-in. nozzle. Average discharge and pressure: 796 gallons at 129 pounds net. Engine speed: 612 R. P. M. Pump speed: 1,591 R. P. M. Remarks: O. K.
